Gaining Ground is committed to identifying local energy initiatives and agencies throughout the state, demonstrating energy alternatives and educating the public about these options, and expanding the use of alternative energies throughout the state. We have begun a project called Mapping the Sustainable State of Mississippi on our website where the public can find examples of alternative energy systems in use in their area of the state. People can also list projects such as LEED certified buildings, wind-powered businesses, and solar powered homes for others to view. Connecting people with sources where alternative energy is being demonstrated in our area is an important step in convincing the public that these initiatives are realistic. Gaining Ground participates in and leads educational
workshops on sustainable energy options. For example, we presented at the 4
County Energy Expo Conference, and the Mississippi Solar Tour on sustainable
energy options. We were also awarded a grant from the National Association of
Realtors to teach Mississippi Realtors about Smart Growth and Development,
including sustainable energy options as they relate to industry and housing.
Gaining Ground also partners with companies like Mississippi Solar who helped
sponsor our conference in 2010 and plans to sponsor and demonstrate
photovoltaic options at our conference in 2011. Renewable energy & energy efficiency projects in Mississippi MTA-SBS is making every effort to provide the most up-to-date information, but is always seeking better quality data. Please let us know about new projects to be included on this map as well as defunct projects. Also available is a complete listing of the projects shown on this map. Did you know?Did you know that headache, stress, blood pressure, fatigue and worker error all generally increase with the common over-illumination present in many workplace and retail settings. It has been shown that natural daylighting increases productivity levels of workers, while reducing energy consumption.(Scott Davis, Dana K. Mirick, Richard G. Stevens (2001).
