Internships

We are now accepting applications for Spring and Summer Internships 2012. If you are interested in unpaid internships to build your resume, please contact us at any time!

Interns at Gaining Ground learn a broad range of skills connected with running a non-profit organization including outreach, public presentations, fundraising, communication, and web management. Additionally, Interns work on specific hands-on projects tailored to their specific interests. These projects are written up in an intern plan-of-study at the beginning of the internship and evaluated weekly by intern advisors. Independent projects have included learning to run a farmers market, creating a composting system on a college campus, and hosting an educational conference. Projects could include: designing and building a model of strawbale or cob housing, creating and running a CSA, working with youth to promote healthy eating, working with farmers to help create a vibrant local food system, etc, etc. Interns work 4-5 days per week, averaging 20 hours of work per week. It is intensive job training experience and requires at least an 8-week commitment.

Dear GGSIM,
I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful internship opportunity you provided this summer. I had a great experience I would not change for anything. It was truly and honor to have worked with such a ground breaking organization. Thanks for the experience and let me know what else I can do!
